I don't know anyone in Chicago. But I think it does not matter. You can hire an attorney from other city/state as long as he/she is competent. We live close to chicago, but our immigration attorney is in Michigan.
We had a great experience with this attorney. She is thorough, clear, always accessible and prompt. And she does not charge a fortune either like others. She does not even charge extra for phone calls, emails, etc.
The office is Law Offices of Ingrid Brey P.C. in Grosse Point Park, MI. Just google it and call the office. Have them email their services/charges, etc.

Dont worry too much. Get your H1 extension with current employer even if it s a consultancy firm when you are on project. It wont be deied.

I have been in US on L1 with Company A and then I changed several jobs and am on H1 with Company B. My I-140 has been filed by Company B and is approved . Company B also has an office in India. Can I take a transfer to Company B's office for 1 year and then come back to US on L1 visa and all this while still manage to continue my GC processing.

so once your processing date is current, then no matter what (if your pd is current or not) they will start the Name Check process or will they wait until my PD is current to get started on the Name check process.

Maybe USCIS would earn more income by telling the illegal immigrants to file EAD/I-485/Biometics every year etc.. Immigration attroneys would earn good money by replying to RFEs for 12 million immigrants. Getting this 12 million illegal immigrants legalized will surely improve the economy.

Kudos to Senator Chuck Schumer for raising the profile of a serious issue - discrimination against same-sex partners in US immigration law. Even as several states are enacting marriage equality laws and anti-discrimination laws are moving forward around the US (including here in my home town of Memphis), the antiquated Defense of Marriage Act prevents USCIS from treating these families fairly. If new position is similar in responsibilities, then no effect. but if the responsibilities are changing, I would recommend talking to your immigration lawyer about it
My LC and I-140 was approved with my ex-employer in CA.Now I have a oppurtunity to join my ex-employer in the east coast. Will I be able to file AOS if I join in a similar role and when my PD becomes current ? The immigration lawyer of my ex-employer told me that I have to join in the same location as my LC was approved to take advantage of AOS as it is location specific. Is it true?

Please see below I-140 ref. I do understand that they need me to submit an experience letter including employment date and specific duties, but how to handle the second evidence? If the specific duties on my previous employer�s experience letter already includes those H14 specific skill and other requirements, is that enough? Or I will still need to find something else to support/proof them? Thanks!

Is it true that H4 spouse, who do not have SSN are not eligible for tax rebate if while filing a joint tax return for 2007 ITIN is used for spouse.
It seems ITIN is given to illegal aliens too and hence it is not possible for IRS to determine which ITIN holders are legal and which are illegal. Thus they are not going to give tax rebates to ITIN holders.
My wife is on H4 and has a EAD/AP. Should I apply for SSN to receive the tax rebates? But since the tax rebates are based on 2007 tax return I will have to file the tax return using her SSN to get the rebates.
Also will SSN affect her H4 status if EAD is not used?
What do you guys think?

There is a 245(K) provision that will save your wife - research that and ask your attorney to file 485 for her with that.
